The egoist should be not utterly but mostly concerned with his own affairs.
If he feels superior to others, then he needs to renounce this way of thinking. First, all people are more or less created equal, within a rather narrow range of difference in ability.
Second, he must admit that God loves all people, and making them feel bad about themselves--regarded by rude him as inferior--is hurting their feelings, something that God would strongly condemn and disapprove of. Braggers are not welcome in heaven.
Third, his competing with and orientation is not out there against others, a social arrangement. His competing and orientation is against his self that lived yesterday, less developed, less artistic, less talented. It is against that younger self that he is to feel superior to, if he has done his homework, and continued improving as a person.
