Neil Young
The other day, I heard Neil's 1972 rock song, on the radio, the one about searching for a heart of gold, and not finding one.
Now, here again the artist uncovers a seminal truth. Hearts of gold and rare and precious, and one may never encounter one after a life time of searching for it. Why is that? People are born depraved with bad hearts of clay and silt, and through developing a virtuous character and good habits for a life time, they could transform their bad heart into a heart of gold. It is miraculous but not impossible.
My flash of insight that rather than search out there, among thousands or millions of other, searching for a heart of gold, the search should be introspective and personal.
One is not born with a heart of gold, but through love, hard work, tireless perseverance, self-realizing and the active invitation extended to the Good Spirits that they enter and abide in one's heart, soul and mind, one can create a heart of gold in one's own soul. The only way to find that heart of gold is to become one. Be that heart of gold.
