In the Book of Exodus in The Old Testament, Moses was frustrated that his mission to Pharoah to let the Hebrew slaves go free was not heeded by Pharaoh. Moses complained that Yahweh had not forced Pharoah to relent.
I understand frustration, but it is a matter of faith that we must not give up on our benevolent deities. It is not that they are not heeding our beseeching, but our prayers may be being answered in ways that we do not recognize, for in ways that serve God’s overall plan. Sometimes, it is just a mystery that prayers seem to go unanswered/
The great news is that Yahweh talked directly to Moses all the time so Moses could receive explanatory assurance from Yahweh in a way that modern people cannot. It could be if we were as connected to God as Moses was, that we too could talk to God directly and get feedback as to why our prayers seem to be unanswered.
Here is Yahweh’s response to Moses as written in The New American Bible: “Then the Lord answered Moses, ‘Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. Forced by my mighty hand, he will send them away; compelled by my outstretched arm, he will drive him from his land.’”
Imagine today if God came down to earth, and slapped some sense into some vicious dictator that mistreated the masses in some nation, not “letting My people go”.
That type of proven, existential intervention would make most people believe in God, and atheism would take a serious hit.
Here is that same passage from the Holy Bible (KJV): “Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharoah: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong right hand he shall drive them out of the country.”
If worldly leaders do not want to listen to God, there are other ways to compel their submission and obedience. We sure could use that divine intervention today, and perhaps if we are good, God will help us when needed.
