My 9/26/2023 religious homily from The Cavalier Chronicle is from the Revised Common Lectionary, 1992; it is entitled: A Tremendous Challenge: “If we can love God with everything we’ve got, then we can love others as we love ourselves.”
My comment: this view expresses my view about love: we love God and God loves us as individuals, and then we love ourselves and, imbued with hope, gratitude, wisdom, charity and optimism, we are then able to love others, and that is rational egoism at its finest.
Homily: “Most of us fail the ‘love of God’ part. The result? Little love of others. God loves you. This week in church work on loving God back. Love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 13: 8-14.”
If we love God more so God’s love can flow through our soul, we can come to love ourselves, and much love of others will ensue.
