Presuppositions

 

The presuppositions of conservatives in America versus those held by Progressives is quite stark.

 

Take gun control. Leftists presuppose that people are basically good, that big and growing government is a benevolent force and that passing laws via legislatures and Congress, by activist judges and unelected bureaucrats just issuing binding regulations on the public, are all noble and effective ways of solving social problems. Severely restrict or even take the guns away from law-abiding citizens and gun violence will disappear.

 

By infringing upon gun rights with a host of onerous bills, Congress and state legislatures will take away our 2A rights all in the name of the public good and solving gun violence.

 

Conservatives presuppose that people are not basically good. This is to be remedied by training them, as children as single individuals, to be moral, nonviolent unless in self-defense, educated, rational and self-disciplining citizens trained in gun safety, and self-disciplining so that they do not abuse their gun rights to hurt others or themselves.

 

Conservatives also know that people are corrupted by centralized power, so giving up liberty to build a huge, sprawling set of state and federal institutions controlling every aspect of our lives, including regulating our gun rights to death, or even taking away our guns is irresponsible, ineffective, dangerous, and bad. It will not solve gun violence, but it will grow tyranny in America. Authoritarian and totalitarian governments use guns to inflict much more gun violence upon humanity at home and abroad by far than do sporadic violence done in America by criminals, cries and gang members in America.

 

Government is an evil entity, and is a necessary, limited evil under the constitutional republican system set up by our founding fathers. We must solve gun violence problems without passing more gun control laws.

 

I add another presupposition as a neo-conservative. We are basically bad because we are altruists. To solve gun violence, we must raise our kids up as enlightened individualists, anarchist and self-actualizing. They will wield then guns as living angels in God’s army to defend America against federal tyrants, foreign invaders, criminals, and crazy people misbehaving violently with guns or whatever device in their neighborhoods.

 

If this program succeeds, gun violence and mass shootings will mostly disappear in America. If no kid, minority or otherwise, runs in gangs and self-realizes, then most inner-city gun violence will disappear.

 

If the mentally ill or severely alienated loners, sociopaths, psychologically sick or just evil, were to have a sense of purpose, love, belonging and a reason to be construct, love and be positive, then their self-realized efforts would take their despair anger and resentment and rechannel it so self-realization so they need not shoot anybody.

 

The best solutions to gun violence are very free access to guns for all but the mentally ill and felons, but to push self-realization and Christian and Mavellonialist values for young citizens and gun owners so they learn to handle but not abuse gun ownership. Keep the government out of it, and keep the Progressives not heeded, obeyed, or legislating to protect all of society from these disgruntled, ungrateful, misanthropic, fanatical, nihilistic, power hungry elites out to gut and remake America.
