The 1/10/24 local paper from Pembina County, The Cavalier Chronicle, on Page 7 carried its weekly homily, entitled Not To Be Missed. This homily was for Sunday (1/14/24) and is from the 1992 Revised Common Lectionary. I will quote the homily in full, and then comment on it: “Jesus wanted his followers to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches, guides, and counsels us. He is the presence of God within us. Don’t miss this gift of God. Confirm or receive the Holy Spirit this week in church. Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers? Acts 19:1-7.”
My response: We are to welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts as we do for all good deities.
