This 6-10-2014 article by Michael Paulson infuriates me. For 40 years evangelicals at Bowdoin College in Maine have met to study the Bible, pray and worship. Now the collge has disabled the electronic key cards of the group's volunteer advisers.
Let me quote Paulson: "In a collision between religious freedom and anti-discrimination policies, the student group, and its advisers, have refused to agree to the college's demand that any student, regardless of his or her religious beliefs, should be able to run for election as a leader of any group, including the Christian association."
Colleges are biased against religious and conservative groups. Note the liberal and bureaucratical pattern: anti-discrimination policies trump liberty once again. Liberty is paramount under the constitution, not anti-discrimination legislation.
It is time for the taxpayers to gut the funding for colleges, and put millions of Marxist professors, deans and functionaries out of work. Religious organizations are voluntary associations. If gays, lesbians or liberals are booted out, too bad. Religious freedom and voluntary association are not to be mangled by politically correct police officers shoving their ideology.
If GLBT and liberals want to not associate with these volunteer groups, fine. If these groups do not want them included, fine.
Let us be serious: if the mathematics department on campus would not admit a lesbian or liberal to graduate school, or refuse to hire a black or liberal professor, that disallowed discrimination is reasonable and legal. I do not think it is constitutional and legal to force dissidents into a voluntary organization where students are studying the Bible. This attack by college administrators is immoral, unreasonable, fanatical, dictatorial and immoral.
It is time to fire the Leftists ideologues that have ruined higher education.
In the Mavellonialist future, nothing can restrict individual liberty and independent investigation of various ways of living. The government with anti-discrimination policies needs to be defanged and put out of business.
Now, I may seem inconsistent and hypocritical for what I have written elsewhere. let me explain. I am calling for protected class status for individualists and individuators at the same time that we need restraints on these anti-discrimination excesses. Apply the anti-discrimination legislation to work, government jobs or the military, Otherwise, keep the politically correct police the hell away from volunteer and religious organizations.
If I walk into a evangelical meeting where most are rather group-oriented, I will get the cold shoulder and will not be elected leader. Let them discriminate against me. So what, I will go elsewhere.
