The Educated
Eric Hoffer long warned that
the educated people,, traditionally part of any ruling class, will serve
any tyrant, no matter how cruel or arbitrary. Ghandi warned about the
hard-heartedness of the educated class. Bernard Mandeville repudiated
the suggestion that the educated are more moral than illiterate peasants
in the field. Being educated makes one credentialed, smarter, and a
possessor of more knowledge, but wisdom, kindness and acceptance need
not be added. There is a lack of pity in the educated, a mercilessness
and passion for ruling and directing the private lives of the masses.
Where the educated serve a mass movement like the Third Reich, the
educated can put people in ovens.
