On pages 18 and 19 of her novel, The Fountainhead, Ayn Rand contrasts brilliant architectural innovator, Howard Roark, who has been expelled from school by the Dean while nonindivudator Petey will graduate as an architect.
It reminds me of when I was not promoted to get my doctorate in philosophy at U of M in the 80s; perhaps I was and am an original thinker of some importance, like Roark, passed over by the Establishment. It often occurs, though I earned some of my dismissal from graduate school.
