Stephen Hicks: in the West the individual is sovereign--the individual matters. For them to be free, happy, productive, virtuous and good citizens, they need to reason, learn, to think, learn, explore and make up their minds for themselves. They need to do so without coercive opposition.
Hicks defines reason as that epistemological tool of the Age of Enlightenment or the Age of Modernism, and reason was set to work to construct a culture and society built on reason and reasoning.
Postmodernists reject universals, so they reject reason and the individual. They argue that people are only blank slates and groupist, and we are made what we are by the social construct--that is what has shaped and formed us. There is no truth, no reason so my cause or the group's cause are not better than your personal cause or a rival group's cause. So vying for power and control is all that is left.
We that love America and the American Way and we must fight back while we can.
