It is hard to regard social media with much favor as long as its application, by the herders on it, limit its utilization to shallow, banal chitchat between giggling, insipid, herding joiners.
Just as members of an assembled pack share almost telepathic, emotional ties to one another, so too does the electronic bond between readers of social media bind them together, to engage in groupthink.
This new technology will serve progress and good will in the hands of maverizers. In the hands of joiners, it can lead to a police state whose thugs in charge control free speech, disseminate indoctrination and tie the society into one pack, unleashing mind control, via social media.
