Western artist and writer Louis L'amour occasionally spoke the truth in unnerving, poignant ways, in his Western prose.
For example, in The First Fast Draw, Page 27, hero Cullen Baker thinks this about his good frient, Will Thorne: "For a man to be at peace with himself was important, Will said, not what people say."
The individual should be himself, do his own thinking and follow his own hunches, not follow the crowd or live in accordance with pack expectations. If he does, he will be a peace with himself, public opinion about him be damned.
