The two most insidious, dangerous, and effective lies that Progressives assert and spread is that good is a collective end, brought about in action by the agent’s altruistic motive; the second is the priority personal emphasis of personal interest above general interest is evil, selfish, sordid egoistic drive.
If the core moral problem confronting the modern world is individuals doing their, own thing, then the corrective action is for all to be motivated by selfless self-sacrifice in fulfillment of community needs and wants.
Egoists like Ayn Rand and I insist that the truth is just the opposite: good is gained through individual prioritization, effort, and the primacy of self-interest.
Evil, according to egoists, is demanding that all be driven by altruistic motivation, emphasizing group interests over personal interests, and emphasizing the importance of private matters.
Our egoistic definitions of good and evil, I believe, apply in all moral and spiritual contexts. We have accurately identified the problem, and only our solution offers humanity a way out and upward; that truth is still heterodox for most people in America.
