Truth Defined

Under the traditional correspondence theory of truth, a statement or proposition is true or truth-bearing if it depicts a fact or state of affairs, out there in the world, an ontological status that renders that fact truth-bearing or truth-conducive.

A falsehood or lie would be a statement that does not depict or correspond to the matching fact in the world out there.

As a moderate, I favor pluralist blending of the competent theories of truth but the core of such a blended theory must be predicated on adhering to the correspondence theory so we can make sense of and describe anything or most everything.

As a metaphysical dualist, I declare that the world of matter and the world of spirit are basic substances constitution the natural world and the supernatural world.

The same pluralistic blend of theories of truth, mostly correspondent theory, would compare and contrast, affirm our deny, our ideas and statements to what is going on in the supernatural world. How that would operate, I am not yet sure, but I think I am onto something here.
