God And Morality

I could be wrong, but I think we should worry more about good works we do than our devout professions of faith that we share with the good divinities like Jesus, in our actions and prayers.

Faith is critical and God cannot be loved, and nor can we be saved by Jesus or any of the good deities unless we express our faith in that favored deity. But faith expressed must be coupled in practice with how we conduct ourselves, and God expect a lot from us on both accounts.

Today I was speculating to myself that Jesus or the Divine Couple may find a very kind, almost saintly atheist to be faster to be allowed into heaven—after a stop in Purgatory of course—than a person of faith more modest ethical goodness, or of lackluster moral character, or who was selfish, let alone doing evil in God’s name.

To be saved and enter heaven directly, or at least its outer limits, without a stint in Purgatory, it could be that our soul needs to 55% or 60% morally good, accompanied by 45 to 40 percent spiritual goodness. Or the soul could be 50% morally good and 50% spiritually good.

The person of ardent faith should be of moral excellence, and the ethical person should believe in, follow, and pay homage and thanks to a good deity.
