Unrealistic Expectations

For those of us that are shallow egoists, egotistical, vain, and narcissistic, we might regard ourselves as the center of the universe. At some point during our lives, that solipsistic bubble is shattered by the outer and inner realities that come crashing uninvited into our consciousness, smashing our carefully constructed fantasy about how the world functions, and disabuses us of the notion that ours is the central our important role of commanding the direction that the world moves towards.

We struggle to know how the world works, let alone expecting that it will obey our directives and preferences. The healthy egoist is ever truth-loving, ever reacting to incoming stimulus, often painful, occasionally enlightening, but always challenging. We receive what the world and the good deities send us, and then we build our self-realizing lives with the tools and resources at hand, based upon what we receive.
