I was sharing the weekly homily for 9/20/23 newspaper, The Cavalier Chronicle, from Page 7of that newspaper. This homily is from the Revised Common Lectionary for Sunday, 9/24/23. It is entitled, A Promise Is A Promise: “God keeps his word. This has been the testimony of people for generations. Do you have a promise from God? Stand on it, for God keeps his word. Hear God’s promise this week in church. . . . He remembered His Holy promise. Psalm 105: 1-6, 37-45.”
My response: The good deities keep their word, but we humans often forsake our promise to abide by the covenant between humans and God (God provides for us, comforts us and is with us, and we in turn are faithful, give thanks and attend religious services, all while maverizing and group-living in a way that is spiritually and ethically wholesome, a sacrifice to the good deities of prime value.
