Let me quote Levin from Page 16 of his book Liberty And Tyranny, as he comments on Edmund Burke, the father of modern conservatism: "He wrote of the interconnection of liberty, free markets, religion, tradition and authority."
Burke also defended the American Revolution and its proposal of representative government. If all people could live under our constitutional republic, they would have the best possible political setup, meeting the needs of each individual citizen to enjoy his liberty, to spread and accumulate wealth in the free market economy, to worship as he saw fit, to enjoy the guidance and construct of traditional values while trying new things, to follow the law and work with the authorities over whom he has expressed his approval and consent as they govern him judiciously and sparingly.
