A legislator here in Minnesota, early 2019, introduced a bill to make it a ticketable offense to operate a mobile phone while driving.
He tried to overcome objections by arrogantly sniping that it is a safety issue, not a liberty issue.
He lied to the public, as all Lefties do. Every time a law is passed, inevitably it is a further restriction on liberty.
We do not need to pass this law, but it will pass easily in our Minnesota legislature where Democrats will be joined by eager, RINO Republicans, that would not even begin to imagine that there gold standard test to be met each time, before passing any new law on anything. That test is : does it increase or decrease personal liberty, that shrinking sphere of private space in which each citizen chases after the fulfillment of his unalienable rights.
Passing laws increase tyranny and growth of government. Passing few but necessary strong, clear laws secures liberty and keeps government small and mostly local.
