Here are some verses from The New American Bible: “They shall make a sanctuary for me, that I may dwell in their midst. This Dwelling and all its furnishings you shall make exactly according to the pattern I will now show you.”
Yahweh intends to dwell with His people and the ark of the covenant with a throne formed by the cherubim over the ark, a throne for invisible God. The ten commandments are inside. The New American Bible footnote 25, 18ff notes this: “Cherubim: probably in the form of human-headed lions. The cherubim over the ark formed the throne for the invisible Lord . . .”
Detect the symbolism: God sits on a throne on top of the ark with a propitiatory at his feet to allow humans more easily to pray to him and ask forgiveness of him. The Ten Commandments are inside the ark.
God does not have gold or diamonds place in the ark, but the Ten Commandments. So, Yahweh’s dwelling place on earth among the Hebrews was the ark with ethical law stored inside under the throne of a father sky deity of perfect spiritual goodness.
It is no wonder that Jordan Peterson replies that God is one’s lived experience being as truthful and moral, and one can be. When Yahweh makes such a tight connection between God preference and unifying moral goodness and spiritual goodness, this is a powerful, divine reminder from God that faith and works move together and cannot be sundered without the personal loss of both.
Here are these verses from the Holy Bible: “And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.”
