From the 1/22/25 copy of The Cavalier Chronicle, which I subscribe to, in Page 7 is its weekly homily, entitled, Where To Begin? I copy the homily below and comment on it.
Homily: “Most people would say, ‘Begin at the beginning.’”
My response: That is sound advice if you can figure out what and where the beginning is for you: what are your foundational suppositions upon which you build your life, plans and beliefs to live out? This is not always straightforward or easy to lay out.
Homily: “That’s a challenge if you don’t know where the beginning is. If you want to be wise, start by relating to God appropriately. Then, God can show you. Learn more from God this week in church.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Psalm 111.”
Yes, the beginning of a life-well lived and wisely conducted most likely grows out of learn from and relating to God appropriately.
