From his book, 12 RULES FOR LIFE, AN ANTIDOTE TO CHAOS, Jordan Peterson, on Page 113,writes this rule: "Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them."
I have not delved into this rule, but he seems to be suggesting that we always love our children, but we may not like what they are or become, due to their genetics, their nurtured input, and how they agentially act out what they have learned and refused to learn. He seems to advise that if parents strive to raise an unspoiled, humble, well-behaved child, that, once in public, this courteous, well-mannered child will be liked by most people, by others and by you. It seems like a sensible cautionary.
