Dennis Prager was quoted online today (11/7/23) saying people would rather be taken care of than to be free; for liberty is a value, not a human instinct.
We prefer to follow our instincts (mostly wicked) than to follow God, receive moral values, and then have to live by and up to those values.
To exercise ones free will to be good, and to be moral, that is not only commendable, but is a state of advanced, unnatural, civilized liberty, and that is a value that we must have and insist upon maintaining and expanding.
We do not naturally like ourselves, so we enjoy being told what to do, being enslaved, as long as we do not have to think, take responsibility or support ourselves.
If the government offers to fund you, they control your life.
How did this man become so wise?
