Hierarchies

Jordan Peterson is famous for claiming that our desire for society and hierarchies goes back about 350 million years. Max Stirner, by contrast, is an anarchist, seeking to flatten out hierarchy, and to downsize the power and intrusion of the state impinging upon every individual in society.

I declare that we are beasts living the laws of the jungle in raw anarchy, so we seem to require society, law and order, and some degree of hierarchy to lead lawful, civilized lives.

We cannot exist in a pure state of nature, but nor do we want institutions too powerful and vast either. Those living in a totalitarian state are  altruist, group-living nonindividuators.

Anarchist individuating supercitizens have learned how to be egoists and yet cooperate, negotiate and compromise in order that society will continue to function and flourish.
