Being Heroic

Too often we doubt ourselves, too often we feel helpless: if only we could win the lottery; if only a heavenly messiah, or a politically superhuman President like George Washington or Winston Churchill would save us.

If only, on a more personal level, if a friend, family member, work associate or neighbor would be one’s hero, rescue one, provide one with a sense of hope, meaning, felt comfort and reassurance, showing one the way.

I have news for you: no one will come to your rescue, not even your favorite benevolent divinity. Yes, God will be there, but God is an individualist and individuator, and God freely instills in you the gifts of faith, grace and salvation route, should you will to accept them, thank God for De’s magnanimity, and then take loving action based upon and coherent with the messages and tangible spiritual loving which God has freely bestowed upon you.

Let me bluntly share the bad new with you: no one is coming to your rescue, because rescuing you is your moral duty, a commandment from the good deities, a covenant between you and them.

Do not look for a hero to save the day for you. By individuating as an anarchist supercitizen, you will grow into being a hero. This is what egoism stands for: that you pursue personal happiness and healthy self-care by setting very high standards for yourself, and then working to meet them, and you can come close to matching your ethical touchstone, if you really try.

You must not be a hero for others either: let them elect to save themselves or not. You will only get in their way, messing up both their lives and your life. Only she can save herself; only she can express her love for herself by living the life of a heroine.
