Doidge On Jordan Peterson

Dr. Norman Doidge wrote the introduction for Jordan Peterson's 2018 book, 12 RULES FOR LIFE AN ANTIDOTE TO CHAOS. Here is some of what he wrote on Pages xii and xiii (Doidge describes how the Petersons decorated their house with Soviet Communism art, which seems rather morbid and weird until Doidge explains it: "Paintings lionizing the Soviet revolutionary spirit completely filled every wall, the ceilings, even the bathrooms. The paintings were not there because Jordan had any totalitarian sympathies, but because he wanted to remind himself of something he knew he and everyone would rather forget: that over a hundred million people were murdered in the name of utopia."

My response: Jordan Peterson's overly dramatic, one-man personal museum against the demonic nihilism that Communism was and is a story that needs repeating and acknowledging everywhere. Totalitarian government, ruled by intellectuals, the secret police and Party bureaucrats are fanatical true believers and soul-raping, genocidal monsters, that are just regular people in the service of an unleashed, utterly vicious ideology.

They have never been denounced like the Nazis were and perhaps Peterson's heroic, truthful, ethical, and public crusade against extremism, collectivism, totalitarianism, Nazism and Communism will become widely supported as Communism and socialism are discredited and abandoned, as they should be.

It took getting use to this semi-haunted house 'decorated' by a delusion that that practically destroyed mankind. But it was eased by his wonderful and unique spouse, Tammy, who was all in, who embraced and encouraged this unusual need for expression! These paintings provided a visitor with the first window onto the full extent of Jordan's concern about our human capacity for evil in the name of good, and the psychological mystery of self-deception (how can a person deceive himself and get away with it?)--an interest we share. And then there were also the hours we'd spend discussing what I might call a lesser problem (lesser because rarer), the human capacity for evil for the sake of evil, the joy some people take in destroying others . . ."

My sense of what Peterson was expressing with his obsession with totalitarian, Communist art was his moral decision to let art communicate his beacon-like warning to humanity that such pure wickedness is an ontological and spiritual reality that we must now deal with directly if humanity is to not be annihilated or descend into pure hell on earth.

Somehow he came out of his studies of Communism and Nazism with a deep horror and revulsion against demonic origins of state criminal behaviors that went on decade after decade, and whose imperial tyrants sought and seek world domination.

Peterson is so bright and intuitive that he may have encountered the Dark Couple directly, Satan and Lera and the shock of that pure, dark meeting have scarred his psyche permanently. To encounter pure Truth unfiltered can be a jarring encounter for the uninitiated, the half-prepared, or those that are self-deluding.

It is rough meet any divinity and the Devil would be no picnic to meet. Satan and Lera are in our very souls, as are their Evil Spirits. We are genetic beasts, we run in packs owned by them, fighting up hill to do good in a word of sin and rebellion against God, for the Dark Couple rule this world, and the forces arrayed against the children of light is daunting to say the least.
