It is not enough to mean well: that which supervenes, the unintended consequences must be anticipated as the teleological responsibility of ever moral agent.
Do your duty and do it with a pure heart and warm feelings, but what is the practical outcome 10, 20 or 30 years from now from your initial action? Nothing happens in a vacuum, and what we do right or wrong today ripples out in unforeseen ways, and that prospect should make us humble and cautious about what we elect to do.
