Today, 10-9-2014, there is a New York Times article, front page, about Bill Maher misunderstanding religion, namely Islam. To quote the Times: "Religion is more often a matter of culture and identity than beliefs and practices . . ."
Religion is what is followers do. When they commit atrocities, torture, terrorism and unholy war as trained to do by mullahs in the mosques, then we have a mass movement menace on the march towards world supremacy. That set of beliefs spawned these practices, and the moderates have not taken up arms with the West to go fight ISIS. Where are the 30,000 American Muslim youths volunteering to join the US army as boots on the ground, especially directed to stop and wipe out ISIS? There are none. I cannot but conclude the moderates secretly like and approve of what the fanatical killers are doing.
From the belief comes the practice with slight variations driven by local culture, national outlook and tribal identity.
The Left lies routinely and serially: political correctness is to silence truth, silence dissent, smash capitalism, end individual liberty, and impose socialist tyranny in all aspects of American life. The media, especially the Times, are very guilty--they brook neither freedom or independent thought. They secretly like Communists and Islamists as fellow socialists--not such bad fellows after all.
