Failed Professors

Why are many, perhaps the majority, of professors failed, foolish, unwise, ideological, fanatical, tyrannical, merciless, even cruel?

Why are intelligent, highly educated, experts so dense and clueless? I blame their mass failing on the institutions that made them, broke them, and controls them.

Only trained critics, outside the observed institutions, critics trained as individuator-anarchists, living angels, and great soul possess the necessary insight owned by the perspective-rich outsider, enjoying the bird’s eye view on what goes wrong in educational bureaucracies, for failed professors.

Eric Hoffer has the best and deepest understanding an insight into professors and other educated people. They believe they are better than the masses. They believe that they are entitled to rule mass humanity, lesser human beings, naughty, wayward children in need of permanent, elite supervision. This lust for power to rule the masses rots out the soul of any member of elites, be they educated or not. They end up without morals, mercy, compassion, common sense, or belief in the people to run their own affairs.

Professors with real power turn vicious, dangerous and oppressive, and eagerly, voluntarily did the dirty work of every mass movement and totalitarian state in the 20th century. This is why Hoffer wanted professors praised and cossetted but to be kept deprived of actual power to run affairs in America. Of course, the fascistic Envirostatists now running the Administrative state are often professors, or educated fools with advance degrees.

Teachers at all levels of public education are now woke, ruling elitists that believe the lies that their professors told them at college. This is why Prager wants parents to pull their kids out of kindergarten, grade school, middle school, high school and college.

Dennis Prager would likely describe professors largely as Leftists that have no respect for the truth.

My own characterization of failed professors is consistent with complaints and criticisms of them by Hoffer, Prager and others, but my explanation provides a broader, deeper characterization of what professors are and why they are so vicious and cruel.

Let me go back to my definition of evil: evil is irrational, immoderate, lie-loving and truth-despising. Evil is collective for people that run in packs, radically favor insiders in their own tribe, party or faction, and will do anything and justify it to rival collectivists and group-livers from rival tribes, party and factions.

Professors, though well-educated, exist in fanatical factions. If a dissident student, graduate student or independent-thinking or conservative professor joins their departments, they will be broken, canceled, or expelled. Purity of conformity in speech, groupthink and groupspeak will be and is demanded and enforced with uniformity insisted upon and forced.

Professors like other educated and elite members of any hierarchy end up being tribal, groupist true believers. Though well-educated, most are non-individuators due to their group-orientation.

When someone gives up their soul, their independence and become alienated from themselves (This is Max Stirner’s point.), they are filled with emptiness, rage, resentment, and the deepest  self-loathing. Professors, filled with profound self-hatred, seek to enslave the entire world in service if the Marxist religion that they fervently worship and seek to extend over every American, at every corner of the land. True believers are drunk with the power of powerlessness, and they will die to extend as far as possible the ism that they worship. Considering this true believer status of most failed professors, it is believable and understandable why they are so cruel, heartless, tyrannical and totalitarian. They should not even be allowed to serve as local dog catchers.

These flaws suffered by failed professors is not much their fault—it is somewhat—it is more due to the roles inflicted on them by the horrible institutional regime that twisted and shattered their character and self-esteem until they field the morality and sensibility of a Mordor orc.

We are born evil, and changing the social arrangements will help professors and others shed this crippling institutional work-life in favor of breathing the free air and doing their own thing as anarchist-individuator supercitizens. Free the misanthropic professors, so sad, bitter, mistaken, and sullen!

Educated functionaries in just about any other social hierarchy will share many of these failed professors’ failings and dysfunctional behaviors.
