We have many of them; work projects, pay your taxes by this date, get the clothes washed for the next day, walk puppy before bedtime, etc.
Those are the essential and mundane deadlines.
As a budding maverizer, you need to set goals of incremental progress for yourself, and set a deadline of completion to meet. Then you will often reach the goal having met it.
A word of caution: do not forget to take time for family, love, pleasure and relaxation. Do not set the goal too high because you may become disappointed and quit growing altogether. Small deadlines, met one after the other, may be the best way for you to proceed.
