Hong Kong March

We cross our fingers in hope and prayer that these brave marchers clamoring for a Chinese democracy will be safe, and not gunned down, beaten, tortured and murdered by the brutal, totalitarian Communist Party bosses.

The Chinese people are one of the most handsome and talented ethnic groups on the planet. Would that they become democratized. I remain leery that a push for freedom has much of a chance there.

A democratic China allows worried, terrified neighbors to breathe easier.

A free and open China indicates that its ruler will concentrate on making democracy work, rather than instituting and keeping in place repression domestically, while building up the military to take over the world through empire expansion. A huge aggressive China could seek to dominate the world. For these reasons, the efforts of these few protesters really matter. I applaud them, but am not very optimistic that they will succeed.
