Yahweh set the Hebrews up, giving them the promised land, overflowing with milk and honey. In return, God expected that they would worship Him, love him, obey him, honor the covenant between them, and remain faithful to God: "And he gave them the lands of nations, and they took what the people had toiled for, That they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Alleluia."
When we forget God, turn our backs on De, worship the Dark Couple, or just morph into pleasure-seeking, mortal, worldly creatures, we are violating God's laws, natural laws, so often, on so many levels, that we will pay a stiff price.
