No, college should not be free in America. Nor should the poorest not pay some income or sales tax. And welfare should not be gratis if a person can work for it.
We want independent, self-reliant, industrious, sturdy Americans that work for money and use that money to meet their needs. When they get so much for free from the government or their parents, they appreciate none of it and the dependency is corrosive to the strong self that they seek to build character into, so that they may get going on maverizing.
