There is much wisdom in folk wisdom. For example, the old meme that "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."
The adage really advises the life of moderation and balance as the ethical, satisfying and most happy way to live. Work hard, provide for your family, but have time for a hunting outing, or an evening of beer and pools with friends.
