AFA

 

I am a long-time member of the American Firearms Association, a gun-rights lobby group, registered in Ohio.

 

I get all their Facebook selections, so I will quote a phrase they posted today (3/27/24), and then comment on it.

 

AFA: “Sic semper tyrannis!

 

Tyrants are NOT the problem.

 

People obeying tyrants is the only problem.

 

The people have the power and always have.”

 

My response: Etienne de La Boetie, the French intellectual and political theorist, in his abbreviated life, made the point that AFA above, and I, in other writings, have made: that tyrants survive in power only because people are willing to be in servitude or bondage to a tyrant--of their own free will.

 

Yes, people have the power and always have. But people, when naturally groupist and ethically are unsophisticated, go to default existing: these natural cowards that run in herds, so this majority easily, quickly surrender their rights, power and independence to a government thug. This surrender grows out of their group-living and altruist-collectivist morality, which push the majority to put up with tyranny voluntarily, permanently.

 

People are born selfless, altruistic, lazy, submissive, masochistic, eager to be abused, exploited, oppressed, enslaved, and tyrannized. We must teach the young to self-realize and grow into individuating supercitizens; when the majority of citizens become supercitizens, they will no longer ever tolerate tyrants and servitude. They will accept only liberty or to be given death.

 

This is the only way to prevent humans from voluntarily enduring servitude going forward.
