In The State of Nature

In the state of nature, people, wicked and barbaric, would live lawless lives where the strong would prey on the weak, and the rights, person and property of all would not be secure and safe. We require that all give up some liberty in exchange for ordered liberty, under which our Constitution and rule of law. This social contract is humane, civilized and lawful, as government and the rule of law protect our rights and property. This is no state of nature.
