I am an ex-Catholic, but still pray for the dead, those in Purgatory and those in heaven.
I thought, in a flash, the other day, that when we pray for the dead, we are actually and also praying for the strength, maintenance, growth and expansion of God's dominion on earth, in heaven, and across the universe.
Our prayers to these ends cannot hurt, and likely contribute to the vibrancy and power of the kingdom of heaven.
