Bipartisanship is a noble and desirable end, but the Left and the Democrats are soradicalized, so bent on imposing one-party rule of Marxist totalitarianism that either you surrender (they call that bipartisanship) or you fight back based on conservative principles (you are then referred to as a fanatical ideologue).
It is not that we cannot agree about how to define the problem and then come up with workable compromises. It is that the Left has gotten their way for 100 years, and Republicans and the Left are now trying to restore American tradition, and they will not allow that at all, unless it is forced upon them.
