Exodus 7:1-2 The Prophet

When Yahweh instructed Moses to go speak to Pharaoh on behalf of the afflicted Hebrews suffering under Egyptian bondage, Moses declined the command, protesting that he was a poor public speaker. Here was Yahweh’s answer to that as written in The New American Bible: “The Lord answered him, ‘See! I have made you God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall act as your prophet. You shall tell him all that I command you. In turn, your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave his land.”

My response: On Page 64 of my Roman Catholic Bible mentioned above the footnote for 7,1 explains that “Just as God had his prophets to speak to men in his name, so Moses had Aaron as his ‘prophet to speak to Pharaoh.”

Yahweh communicated his plan to Moses who relayed it to Aaron who them shared it with Pharaoh.

Some prophets talked to God directly and then shared their insights with people directly, but here Aaron seemed to be the best Jewish spokesman available.

God tries to tell Pharaoh to let his people go, but Pharaoh will be having none of that.

Here are these same lines from the Holy Bible (KJV): “And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron, thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.”

My response: God is not literally informing Moses that he will become a god, but he is using that analogy to let Moses be assured that Aaron is his prophet or spokesperson just as Elijah was a prophet for God.

God speaks to you every day. Are you listening? Are you willing to witness to the world what the Father, the Mother and Jesus have conveyed to you. There is some risks, but the rewards in the next world for work done on God’s behalf here makes your speaking out worth it.
