From my home county paper, The Cavalier Chronicle, the 5/31/2023 had this homily, Chill Out: “The Bible says God rested on the seventh day of creation. In today’s frantic world, it’s wise for us to rest too. After church this week, take your rest. Shut off the distractions. Spend some time with the God that made you.”
God would seem to have boundless amounts of energy and being in no danger of being fatigued, or in need of rest, but, God rested nonetheless, likely to regain equilibrium, some cosmological balance to be reestablished, a moderate necessity, and we are to do likewise.
