This pleasant, warm, decent, distant relative of Dad's passed away in North Dakota 2 days ago. My brother Doug called me a few minutes ago. He was very upset about it, for she was a close friend of Mom's and Doug's, a great comfort to all two years ago when Mom left us.
As Doug pointed out, there are two more empty houses now in the tiny village of Crystal, North Dakota. The old leave by way of the graveyard, and the young leave for economic opportunity, and never return. Of 8 children in our family, only Doug lives in the Crystal community anymore.
Rita was such a loving, upbeat Christian woman. Her interest in genealogy never flagged.
She has gone to meet her Maker. It is a journey we all shall take. Rest in peace, Rita.
