Chance

 

I was listening today, 11/7/2023, for a few minutes over lunch to Dennis Prager’s Ultimate Issues Hour. Dennis was disagreeing with people that believe that because God is all-powerful, all-knowing and all-good that there is nothing that happens in the world that is not God’s will, because God controls everything.

 

Dennis does not buy that. He believes that there is luck, chance, freedom (free will) at work in the world as well as God’s will. God is all-powerful but does allow us the freedom to do as we will, even if we sin.

 

Dennis asked how could a parent in Israel, who, in the 10//2023 massacre, lost a daughter, raped and beheaded, conclude that it was all God’s will. God could not be responsible for such horror and wickedness.

I agree with Dennis. Such cruel evil would not be God’s will. Freedom, chance, and luck do exist in the universe.

 

I see it all as part of faith, but it is hard to make metaphysical statements that hold when something is so beyond the human ken.

 

I do not see the Divine Couples as all—powerful, but they are very powerful. Fate, beyond them is all-powerful and all-powerless, so some horrible things can occur, and God the Father and God the Mother are not responsible for them, and such cruelties do not come from them.
