I have always sided with amateurs against experts, and I still think that is right. This does not mean we should not respect and learn from experts for they are authoritative in their areas of expertise.
Respecting them and taking them seriously is not at all the same as accepting their version of things as the last word or decision on the subject in question or allowing them to run our country as an elite, coteries of unelected bureaucrats and self-appointed legislators, ruling the ‘ignorant, child-like’ masses.
They can advise but we the voters will make the final choices on how to run society and our personal lives.
I am also for radically opening up research, experimentation and speculative brainstorming new theories to generates improved conceptualizing for every conceivable area of study. If the people self-realize, a majority of them, our independent if amateur, expert, maverizers will be a powerful source, a wealth of new and original creative, imaginative, innvovation, producing more new ideas, more knowledge, new insight and new technologies at a faster pace.
