Exodus 14:14, The Fighter

When Pharaoh and his army are closing in on the release Hebrew slaves to recapture them and put them back into servitude, they complain and beseech Moses to save them. Moses reassures them, reminding them that they need not be fearful, for the Lord will win victory for them that day and the Egyptians would never be seen again. Here is what Moses said as quoted from The New American Bible: “The Lord himself will fight for you, you have only to keep still.”

Here is that line from the Holy Bible (KJV): “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

My response: When our enemies surround us and all seems lost, this ancient, Biblical account is to comfort us, that in our hour of need and travail, we are never alone, that God is with us and will fight for us, and alongside us. We may be slaughtered. We may be captured, subjugated, tortured, or imprisoned, but we should fight on to the death for we are in God’s army, fighting God’s battle.

We will, as people of faith and as children of light, once again reach the point of pious connection to the Divine Couple that they will, when necessary, (often the Good Spirits or lesser good deities can handle the fight without top-level intervention), fight for us and with us, and that is a very comforting, inspiring thought.
